After a lovely post-concert curry dinner, we went to a nearby pub and had
Laphroig scotch whiskey the way the locals do, with a little cold water.

On the way to Edinburgh, we visited Adita's ancestral home of Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland.
It has changed a lot since her eighteenth century forebears were stocking weavers there!

As a matter of fact, on the pedestrian high street, we met an Edinburgh-based Andean band, Jach'a uru, setting up for some holiday cheer.

In our two hours of power-sightseeing in Edinburgh, Adita visited the coffee shop
where J. K. Rowling wrote her first Harry Potter book.  Nobody much cared about
the rags-to-riches author there, but Natalie Ceates in Girvan, a French native, did refer to Harry Potter.
We asked the others if she had a French accent, which for us was totally obscured by her strong
Ayrshire accent.  They said she did have a little accent once in a while.  She said that the one word
she kept having trouble with was "diagonally", which she said she could only say like
"Diagon Alley" as in Harry Potter.

After driving through rain and wind, we arrived in the lovely fishing-cum-resort town of Girvan,
in south Ayrshire, on the west coast of Scotland.  Four members of the local Girvan Folk Club
joined us for a Thanksgiving Day feast.  Shana and I ate haggis and pheasant!

We performed at the Girvan Folk Club which is celebrating its fortieth year!

At the folk club session following our concert, club members share Burns and other traditional songs.
We sang along and noticed that everyone there could quote Robert Burns poems and sing Robert Burns songs.

Before we left Girvan for London, we had one more traditional Scottish breakfast!
The less-than-happy faces are really because Adita forgot to ask them to smile,
not that the breakfast was in any way less than delicious or that most of us had
crawled into bed at 1:30 am the night before.

Review from the Girvan Folk Club 1 Dec 04:
"Well firstly a thousand thanks for a great two days from myself and the rest of the club. We had a brilliant time and it was a fitting end to our 40th anniversary celebrations...Bobby is still raving about how busy the club was that night (50 % were new faces) We are sure you were the busiest guest night. We have also had great feedback from people saying how good you were. (ok you were bloody brilliant!!)  The next time you are planning to come over, please let us be in your plans and maybe stay a day or two longer. (summer is far better, I kid you not).  Best wishes and love from everyone over here."
